4 Reasons Why You Should Choose Cheap Vinyl Flooring

18 February 2014
Kitchen and bathroom flooring needs to fulfil a very specific purpose. They need to be waterproof, splash proof, hygienic, long lasting, non-slip as well as attractive and warm underfoot. There’s nothing worse than getting out of a hot and steamy shower and stepping onto a cold slippery floor. You’re probably also working to a budget. We’d like to argue that the best option is to install cheap vinyl flooring.

Easy to fit

When updating the appearance of your kitchen, the last think you want to do is spend days installing the new floor. It can be time consuming and expensive, and with some types you’ll need to employ the services of a new fitter. If you’ve spent a lot of money on new flooring stone tiles, the last thing you’ll want to do is install them yourself and end up breaking one or laying them incorrectly.

Vinyl flooring is easy and quick to lay. Tiles are very simple, and even vinyl sheeting, which you might think would be unwieldy, can be laid in just an afternoon. It’s the perfect odd job for a rainy Sunday.

A benefit of using flooring tiles is that should one of them get damaged or marked in some way you will be able to replace that tile without having to rip up the whole floor. Just buy a few extras so that have spares.

Good value for money

Cheap vinyl flooring is obviously low cost, but that doesn’t mean it is going to be low quality. By investing in the right type of flooring you won’t necessarily have to break the bank. There is a lot more choice available than there used to be, and so you’ll be able to find a suitable variety for your room without breaking the bank. Of course, there are more expensive options available, and these will often be of a higher quality.
Have a look at how you use the room. If it is a particularly high traffic area, you might want to go for a slightly pricier version because the added durability will mean that you get more life from your product and therefore it will work out as a better value product.

Easy to clean

Kitchen floors are put through a lot. The chances are at some point someone will spill a drink, dinner will fall off the table, or the dog will have an accident. With muddy shoes being walked through on a daily basis, you need a floor which is non porous and therefore very easy to clean.
Hard wood floors look beautiful, but moisture can make them buckle and warp. Even if you clean up spills straight away, the moist environment could still be a problem. Carpet is also out the question because they become stained and can even get mouldy in the wrong conditions.
You want something which is wipe clean. Stone can be a great option – other than the price tag. Instead, choose a cheap vinyl flooring equivalent. You’ll be able to get the same effect but for much less. Vinyl is very easy to maintain, and some options can last for years and years when treated with care.
