60% more carpet waste is diverted from landfill (21/9/11)

Over 42,000 tonnes of carpet waste were diverted from landfill in 2010, a 60% increase compared with 2009.
10% of the 420,000 tonnes of carpet waste is being diverted from landfill each year. Of this 10%, 3.5% is recycled with the rest fed into energy form waste schemes.
